Six years ago from this day was the day my mom passed away. Her death was pretty tragic and it made a huge impact on me.

ARTICLE

As you can see, her anniversary is usually a day before Mother’s day. Sometimes it’s really hard to spend it without a mother, it’s pretty tough.

So, today, instead of being depressed because she’s not here with, I would like to share some memories I have with her. All I can say is that she’s in a better place and she will always be here with me in spirit.

- My mom was always the working. She worked seven days a week at a bar as a manager, even though she was very busy, she always found time to spend with me. I remember one time, it was New Year’s and we were at Wal-Mart, and she was buying stuff for the house, when we got to the electronics, she saw me playing around with a camera. She asked me if I wanted it and I said yes. After she said she would buy it for me, I literally ran towards her and gave her a big hug. When we went to go pay for everything, she realized she didn’t have enough money for the camera but see, if you know me, you know I don’t ”hug” a lot of people, not even family. I remember this moment because it was the first time I gave her a hug. I’m sure there are several more hugs before that, I just never remembered. My mom was a person that always supported me in everything I do. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM, I LOVE YOU.

-Christmas 2004, I dressed up as Santa Clause by putting a pillow in my shirt to make it look like I had a huge stomach. Everyone came over and it was the biggest family Christmas I can ever remember having. By the time we opened presents, I got pretty upset because everyone was giving me apparel and no toys! My mom’s present was the last one I got that night and when I opened it, it was a toy. It was a projector and it would display birds, and with the toy gun that came with it, I had to shoot those birds. My point is, she always knew I wanted to become a police man, so she bought something that she knew with interest me. Even though we didn’t have a good communication, she knew me inside and out. I guess it’s true when a someone says ”Mother’s know best”. HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MOM, I LOVE YOU.

If you knew my mom, you would know that she was a very nice person. My mom allowed me to be a kid, and allowed me to grow up. I made her a promise that I would become a policeman, and I will do everything in my power to fulfill that promise. Even though she had financial problems, she wasn’t married, and on top of that she was supporting me, my two older brothers and my uncle; my mom always knew the importance of family. In August 2003, I got into a car accident with my older brother and I remember her coming to the hospital crying. All these memories I have, it can go on and on, but the most tragic day I lived was the day I she died. I would wake up at 12 midnight every night to see her come home from work, she would always tell me goodnight. That night, she didn’t come home, I constantly called her and never got answer. A hour passed by and I went in the living to find my uncle crying, and that’s when he told me the news. My mom got shot and died. My advice to everyone is that, cherish these moments you have with your parents, because when they’re gone, you will live your life with guilt like I do till this day. Fulfill each day with your life with everything you can. I don’t have any photos of my mom so I can’t share any. Well, the only photo I have of mom is the one below. Dear Mom,

You were my supporter and loved me unconditionally. I will always remember the great times I have with you and I am very sorry for all the bad times we had together. I am 16 years old now and for the last 6 years, it has been pretty tough. I can tell that you are always watching me and guiding me because even though the past 6 years was tough, you helped me through it. I will always be thinking of you and even though its hard not having you here during mother’s day, I know you are here in spirit. It’s not mothers day until tomorrow but I thought I write you this letter to show you how much I miss you and love you. I will never disappoint you again. You are truly the most amazing mother in the world. By the way, grandma’s memory is not so good but she’s always reminding me of you. She says you used to take her everywhere you go and she told me about the promise she made to you. The promise where she will take care of me if anything were to happen to you, I just wanted to let you know, she is taking very good care of me. She reminds me of you sometimes, always happy and supportive.

I love you mom. Don’t worry, I’m crying from thinking about the good memories we had together. Take care mom. Happy Mother’s Day, I love you mom.

May 9th 2012- A lot of things have been bothering me today. Thinking about the past, this week is going to be a pretty tough week. I’ve been losing some sleep lately and this Saturday, May 12th, is my mom’s anniversary. Six years ago from that day, she died. It was one of the most tragic events in my life and it’s been on my mind this week. I was ten years old at the time and was living with my uncle, mom and two older brothers. When I got the news that night, I had no clue what to do. Till this day, I keep thinking about the past and how I was a disrespectful kid, it hurts me. Whenever I write, I get feedback of people telling me that I’m such a strong person but truth is, I’m not. It’s been six years and I’m still unable to move on for whatever reason, I feel like I’m still trapped. Working on a project after the next hoping it will get things off my mind, but it doesn’t.

It took me a lot of courage to write this today, but today has just been one of the most tiring d

ays for me. I had to share this blog with you. In January 2012, I wrote a resolution which I shared to many of my friends. Got positive feedback, and many of them choose to follow that resolution. And i’m pretty thankful for that. Today, I would like to share with you my resolution.

Even though I made the resolution, I often caught myself forgetting to do it. I look at my resolution as goals for my life and goals are challenging but they should not be overwhelming. A lot of times I feel we set the wrong goals. Instead of setting a goal that ‘sounds’, set a goal that best fits you. When you set a goal, it’s also important to be patient, you won’t see the results right away. It may take some time, especially if it’s a challenging goal.

We will often find ourselves bored with the goals we give ourselves. We’re human and so that happens. Next time you are bored with your goal, don’t quit but think outside the box. For example, you’ve been going to the gym, same workout every single day, and you’re getting sick of it, don’t quit…Instead, think outside the box and instead of going to the gym, go running, or do some kickboxing instead. Find alternatives to make accomplishing your goals more exciting. A lot of times when we set a goal or make a resolution, we find our selves being afraid to change. Applying to a goal to your life will sometimes be difficult, requires some effort and usually some discomfort. Its important to remember and realize that when making changes, you must prepare for a downfall. Things won’t always go perfect.

To sum it all up, when setting a goal, commit to it, put some effort, expect some discomfort and have a plan on how to deal with it. Creating goals is easy but achieving it is a little more challenging than it seems. Like everything else in life, there will be some pros and cons.
